This new terrace conversion in Holland Park in West Kensington W11 in London had some very specific requirements - including:

  • A tapered new fall direction
  • Cut-to-fall (CTF) tapered warm roof insulation
  • Extra-low U-value (the rate at which heat is transferred through insulation material) - increasing the property's energy rating to Rentable Band C, which applies when limited alterations are permissible with a conservation area.

The insulation had high/strong compression at 2 tonnes per M2 - more than adequate for the final installation of the fireproof Ryno White Poplar decking.

We used Polyroof Protec waterproofing, which offers a tough but flexible system BBA certified to exceed 25 years, together with the highest class fire rating. It's 'zero fall' certified, root-resistant for green roofs, and is a certified low carbon technology.

It produces a jointless and seamless roof guaranteed to prevent water ingress.

Low profile patio door trays gave a level internal floor for the area, from patio door track to terrace decking. Finally, 200mm splash upstands under-cloaked the lead facade rain-screen, making the architect and client's vision a trouble-free reality.
