Flat Roof with Internal Parapet Wall Detail

This flat roof area in Upton, Northampton included well constructed internal parapet wall detailing. Despite the excellent workmanship, however, the occasional need to stand up to excessive rainfall and high winds had not been factored into the design, meaning that the outside edges (7m2 per elevation) were pouring too much rain water onto the window sills below.

Removing the lead from the back of the dormer roof

This dormer roof in Upton, Northampton NN5 presented some interesting problems.

The new build lead work had been installed with the aim of directing rainwater back from the dormer roof to drain off the sides, a method that relieves the need for a high level front gutter. However, that design seemed to be have been changed halfway through the installation - so that somehow the rear gutter was installed flat without the stepped rear…

In this roofing case, the entire roof was removed

Copper roofing theft had caused considerable damage to the roof of the Oliver Bird Hall in Solihull, a community hall in a conservation area near Birmingham in the West Midlands.

The Local Council granted planning permission for the rear elevation roof to be coated in liquid membrane. Unusually, the decision was then made to remove the entire roof, allowing work to progress easily and without the need for scaffolding.

Leaking felt roof terrace in Oswestry, before...

This bedroom roof terrace at a Shropshire cottage in Oswestry, on the border between England and North-East Wales, was leaking significantly.

The existing slabs and leaking felt underlying these were removed to give a fresh base. We then installed a tray to span the cavity, before applying a full 15-year system to join the tray seamlessly to the roof.
