The area of roof needing refurbishment extend to 1200m2

Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, West Wales (a Hywel Dda NHS hospital), had some unique needs for remedial overlay refurbishment work. Despite previous repairs by another company, the roof was leaking in numerous places, with the asphalt upper area of the main roof in especially poor condition. Its solar-reflective coating had worn away completely, exposing the felt, which had cracked and blistered in the elements. The felt…

There were some unusual plans in the pipeline for this art deco structure on the Welsh coast

A job in a million! This art deco concrete structure property situated yards from the beach & sand dunes at Ynyslas just north of Borth and Aberystwyth, needed some tricky waterproofing work over the entire flat roof.

Set at the end of the Borth Golf Links, the roof comprises a 120m2 warm room terrace finished in Forest Green decorative quartz. Frameless glass fitted to the internal sides of the parapet walls and a couple of…

Insulation boards on the flat roof were saturated

To begin with, the pointing around the chimney stacks was ground out with flat blade diamond discs to 30mm, then repointed with premixed lime…

The roof walkways were cleared of debris and pressure-washed

Gwenllian Morgan Court in Brecon in South Wales LD3 7ET needed refurbishment for the flat walkway-style areas of its rooftop (i.e. between slate areas).

As the photographs show, this was well within the capability of the polymer system - the main issue being creating a jointless, seamlessly waterproof seal when the roof is of two different materials.

This was, however, no problem. The final result is neat, watertight and…
