Fibreglass Roof Repairs this Winter

Wed, 02/01/2019

Fibreglass is a popular roofing choice, especially on flat roofs, but it can be prone to curling, lifting, embrittlement and "crazing", primarily as a result of UV damage. When this happens, water can easily ingress, in time damaging substructures and woodwork such as joists. Winter can worsen the problem, with frost and ice forming and creating expansion and contraction that further damages the material. If the fibreglass has expired, it will need to be removed and replaced. However, if problems are still at an early stage, it can be possible to seamlessly and jointlessly seal the roof using liquid polymers.

If you're looking for replacement fibreglass matting, rather than a whole new fibreglass roof, high quality lightweight options are usually best as they place less weight upon the substructure. Depending on your roof, we offer 100gsm, 150gsm and 225gsm options for use with 10, 15, 20 and 25 year systems. These are available to purchase separately from our online shop>

The polymer system works by utilising recycled plastic polymer particles to create a seamless, jointless membrane over the entire roof area. The roof is waterproof, weatherproof, fireproof, UV proof, can be walked on after only 6 hours, and can be installed rapidly even on hard-to-access roofs. Because of this, we can get to you quickly wherever you are in the UK (including Highlands & Islands) and you don't have to pay for weeks and weeks of roofing work - most domestic roofs can be repaired in just one day, saving you money.

The polymer system is so rapid-forming that it can even be installed between weather fronts, meaning we can continue to repair roofs throughout the winter.
