Aberystwyth University Laboratory - Llandinam, Penglais

QA Project reroofing the Llandinam Building, a laboratory on Aberystwyth University's Penglais Campus:

Multiple factors problematised the successful waterproofing of this laboratory refurbishment, including issues with keeping the building itself waterproof while the works progressed.

The laboratory roof has a series of higher levels draining into central chute outlets and discharging onto lower level roofs. These lower roofs have glazing along their entire lengths.

Troon Beach Front Development, Ayrshire, Scotland

Troon, on the west coast of Scotland, is known not only for its golf course but also for its strong winds, which come from the Atlantic and from the north down the Firth of Clyde. This makes it an excellent spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing, but a challenging spot for roofs!

One new 14 apartment development on the main seafront road illustrates this well - the roof area wrapped around the complex, each area presenting its own requirements and each requiring reliable longterm protection from the corrosive salt-rich sea air and the worst weather the Atlantic will throw at it.

Ceredigion Training Centre in Llanbadarn, Aberystwyth, West Wales

The roof of the Ceredigion Training Centre at Llanbadarn on the outskirts of Aberystwyth was in dire need of proper insulation. The existing roof did not conform to government U-values and the cold roof was costing the training centre money in heating.

We worked with the existing mastic asphalt roof, saving time, money and resources. The entire area was cleaned, with increased ply fascias fitted in preparation for the roof to receive the tapered insulation - a thickly insulated power deck designed for foot traffic.

Balcony Waterproofing Test

Two balconies demonstrate the outstanding waterproofing properties of the polymer balcony system. The system is guaranteed 100% waterproof over all areas of application. Drainage channels are of course then installed so that water can drain away!

Belle Vue Hotel in Aberystwyth

The popular 36 room Belle Vue Hotel in Aberystwyth contacted us in desperate need of a new roof for a rear-facing area of the hotel. The existing mastic asphalt roof was blistered and leaking, requiring full re-waterproofing and weatherproofing, all while the hotel remained operational.

Llangynfelin CP School, Ceredigion Powys Border

The GRP flat roof on this rural Welsh Primary School, on the Powys-Ceredigion border, had severely cracked after the long dry summer due to its age, leaving it in dire need of refurbishment or replacement.

Although the school address was Machynlleth, which is in Powys, the school is technically in Ceredigion therefore it was Ceredigion County Council's responsibility to secure fast repair. Having used us for several school roofing projects previously, they knew our reputation for speed, efficiency and high performance roofing at cost-effective rates, was well deserved.

Marine Hotel Aberystwyth Gets New Polymer Flat Roof

The Marine Hotel on Aberystwyth's seafront in West Wales, sported various features making it difficult, if not impossible, for most roofers to access without damage. The problem area was a flat roof with air conditioning units on it beneath a fire escape walkway. We were able to strip, refurbish and fully waterproof the ENTIRE area (even WITH the AC units in just 4 days with no damage and no need to call out mechanical engineers to disconnect and recommission the units...

How?

Ceredigion County Council Roof Refurbishment

Ceredigion County Council case study:

This portacabin roof at Ceredigion County Council houses the canteen drying room. Its paper backed single ply roof covering had perished and was in serious need of refurbishment.
The first step was for us to strip the roof back and remove the ply paper backing, before the liquid polymer roof system could be installed.
The roof was then overlaid with a 15 year BBA approved high flexible fibreglass to create a reinforced liquid membrane roof
