Trade Associations for Peace of Mind

Safe roofing should be a given. Unfortunately this isn't always the case - a few unscrupulous people will always try to make a quick buck out of others. With roofing this can mean people being left with mess, disrepair, and work so shoddy that in some cases leaks can be worse than they were to begin with!

It is VITAL to check any company's credentials.

What am I looking for?
  • Look for reputable trade associations (you should be able to check and verify not only that the roofer IS a member of that association, but also that the association itself is a worthwhile one)
  • Check a variety of consumer advice websites to ensure you know which organisations the company you choose should ideally be affiliated to and/or certified by.
  • The NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) and CHAS (Health & Safety) should be standard; but also look for accreditation in the particular type of roofing your potential contractor is claiming to specialise in. For example, we work with Liquid Plastics, so are certified by SIKA Liquid Plastics and Proteus, both leaders in the field.
  • Trust your instincts. If one company "feels" wrong, it's better to choose a different company that feels right. You may have been wrong but so what? You won't have lost anything by walking away and you may have saved yourself more than just kicked shins.
