SPOTLIGHT on Caernarfon Balcony Terrace

Tue, 29/03/2022

This month's spotlight article is on a fall correction for a balcony terrace area in Caernarfon in Gwynedd in North Wales. The read-up can be found by following the 'read more' link below, but we wanted to highlight the importance of proper/correct fall on outdoor roof areas.

Too often, a flat roof can mean exactly that, with not enough consideration given to what will happen to water over the surface, especially over time.

When water begins to pool, areas of mould and damp are created which eventually begin to damage the substrate and even the structure of the roof. In addition, the cycle of rain and sun means dampness alternates with evaporation, leading to surface cracking and direct water ingress.

What began as a small problem becomes a much, much bigger one.

The solution is simple: proper fall. Yet too often it's overlooked.

The polymer system is a perfect solution to this: in the hands of people who know what they're doing (and we do!) it's quick to install, readily adapted to different needs (such as correcting roof fall or fitting around details), and the finished roof looks great. It's also fully weatherproof, fireproof, UV proof and waterproof within an hour and safe to walk on within 6 hours.

If you're looking for the personal touch for your balcony, take a look at our range of pigmented quartzes. All of our balconies incorporate anti-skid grit.
