Displayed are before and after pictures of a communal balcony in Kingston Rd, Teddington, in Middlesex. The area was leaking through, causing the steel work to corrode and blow the concrete. The owners arranged for funds from their service charge to be used to refurbish the balcony area.

The balcony wall itself was very sturdy including its render, the removal of which would have taken a great deal of effort and would have involved damaging the brickwork before replastering (another trade so another cost).

The versatility and unique adhesion properties of the polymer roofing system made all this additional work unnecessary.

We pressure washed the walls and balcony, removing loose render and performing patch repairs with a specialist primer and concrete repair mortar to the walls and underside of the balcony where the steel was exposed. Following this, we applied Sika liquid plastics balcony system to the walkway and lower wall, coating and also flashing the balcony floor to save money on expensive lead flashing (for this purpose, it also looks much better). The wall coating was a liquid plastics decodex system, which is used on light houses and other non accessible buildings.

The works took 4 days, quickly creating a safe weatherproof balcony system, right down to the steel, for all the residents.
